What is the difference between Semi-Finished and Finished?

Upsilon’s Semi-Finished and Finished products differ in the functional head and final assembly. A Semi-Finished pole has grips, end caps and connectors fitted, and it extends and locks normally, but you fit the functional head. A Finished Product has the head fitted too, is function-tested, and is ready to use out of the box.

Can I use your stock grips and end caps, or customize them?

Accepted Answer

Both. Upsilon adds 100–200 tooling sets a year: about 70% for fittings and adapters, and 30% for tube sizes and matching internal telescoping parts. You can use stock parts in your color with your logo and save the tooling cost, or we cut tooling to your design in 30–45 days, and it is 100% yours.

Which locks are available on semi-finished poles?

Upsilon’s Semi-Finished poles take all five locking options: friction-fit, internal twist lock, external twist lock, push-button (ball-detent) lock and flip lock, combined to suit the use. Retention is not a lock but a safety baseline: a rolled groove, dimples or a rolled edge added during tube processing, so sections cannot pull out and the tube mouth won’t cut a hand.

Can the force of each section be set individually?

Accepted Answer

No. On an Upsilon telescoping pole the force adds up section by section, about 200–300 g (0.4–0.7 lb) per extra section; that is physics. What we customize is the starting force and the overall feel: tell us whether it should open with a light pull or hold firm overhead, and we set it at the sample stage.

If I send you my functional parts, can you fit them before shipping?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Upsilon fits parts you send us, priced by assembly step and itemized in the quote. If you hand over the functional head and packaging too, it becomes a Finished Product. Parts and packaging from your other suppliers can also come to us for inspection and ship together with your poles.

How is quality controlled on semi-finished poles?

Every Upsilon Semi-Finished pole is inspected, with no sampling: cut length is held to ±0.1 mm per section, phosphor bronze spring clips are fitted and the force is adjusted pole by pole, and six inspection steps come before packing. The first pole and the last are nearly identical.

Can I get a sample first?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Upsilon provides a pre-production sample in the same material and process as production, to verify quality, tolerance, finish and feel before you commit. Telescoping samples take 7–10 days. Samples are charged, and the fee is credited against your production order.

What does a typical semi-finished order look like?

Accepted Answer

A typical Upsilon Semi-Finished order: a lighting-maintenance tool brand already has its own lamp-changing head and needs a four-section aluminum telescoping pole, about 4 m (13 ft) extended, with a flip lock, grip and quick-change coupler. Send us the head’s interface dimensions and use case; we match the pole, grip and coupler, and you fit the lamp-changing head on your own line.
