It All Started With a Single Antenna

/ Our Story & Team

Brian started with a small workshop, and its products grew from copper antennas to stainless-steel tools. Through the 1990s, as more and more Taiwanese businesses moved west into the mainland, Taiwan's whole supply chain (material, assembly, finished goods, and R&D) shifted across piece by piece. Brian made trip after trip to look, and in the end he moved the core technology over and put down roots. That journey has carried Upsilon into its 46th year.

For Brian, “telescoping” is an extension of the human hand: one small structure can become endlessly different products, reach into every kind of industry, and make movement easier. Four decades on, we still hold onto that original spirit, and we welcome brands from all over the world to bring us their most challenging products to develop together. This is an industry you can never finish exploring.

In 1980, Brian was still a student when he joined an antenna factory.

It was the era of Taiwan's economic take-off, the boom years the older generation still talks about, when orders for car antennas, walkie-talkies, and TV and radio antennas poured in from all over the world.

In that one product line alone, thirty or forty Taiwanese factories ran day and night.

In the middle of that heat, a young Brian learned how a single antenna goes from metal to finished product.

From One Antenna to a Telescoping Specialty

Our technology keeps advancing and the products keep changing, but the core never does: it's all an extension of the telescoping structure. The product story is really the story of how telescoping applications expanded:

radio/TV antennas → barbecue forks → high-frequency phone antennas → magnetic tools → table flags → outdoor gear → today's custom telescoping products across dozens of industries.

Empowering your product to reach further.

You focus on your market, and we've got the product covered. We do one narrow, deep thing, telescoping structures, because we believe it deserves to be done to the limit, and because we hope that one day “telescoping” as a specialty can become the invisible, dependable support behind good products everywhere.

There are things we won't compromise on. We inspect 100% instead of sampling, and we use good parts instead of cutting corners. We insist on wear-resistant spring clips and a skin-safe, non-sensitizing eco-adhesive, because the person who finally uses it is real, and making that person's experience smoother and more efficient is what Upsilon has always been after.

person's experience smoother and more efficient is what Upsilon has always been after. Challenging ourselves is how we turn “the telescoping structure nobody else can make” into an opportunity: the harder the product, the more likely someone brings it to us, because the sticking points others can't get past are exactly what we've spent our years solving.

Capabilities Built Step by Step

Our three material mills plus the R&D center are the assets we're proudest of.

The system was built up one piece at a time: with every bit of R&D talent we added and every set of tooling we cut, we put controlled quality and solving the customer's use case first.

The timeline below is what that build-up looks like, step by step.

What Upsilon 4.0 Means

In 2025 we formally began planing Upsilon 4.0: automated lines, digital management, and smart manufacturing that turn years of accumulated craft into a more stable, more traceable, more efficient production system. Put simply, the master craftsman's feel gets recorded as data and reliably reproduced by equipment, so quality no longer depends on any one person but lives in the whole system.

Upsilon 4.0 is more than automated lines. We're capturing four decades of craft, together with every project's drawings, structure, process parameters, and inspection records, into Upsilon's knowledge base and database, so it grows into a reusable, traceable digital asset.

For you, that means reorders can be reproduced quickly, a change of contact person doesn't break continuity, and any issue can be traced back to a specific batch and process step. This steadily growing body of knowledge and workflow is also what gives us the confidence to keep going deep on one narrow thing, telescoping, and to walk alongside global brands over the long term.

Team

Brian came into this trade at nineteen, with a genuine technical background.

Every stage of telescoping-tube work, from drawing and cutting to tube processing, spring clips, tension setting, and assembly, he has done himself, by hand.

His eye for detail and his drive to keep improving the technology shaped the whole team.

Many of our R&D and technical core have been with him since he first set up in the mainland, all the way to today.

R&D team (7 people), a group that has followed Brian for years:

R&D engineer

turns the use case and the real material and structure into a drawing, while protecting the customer's design and patents.

Structural engineer

works through every telescoping structure and locking method so a pole stays smooth and steady, whether horizontal or vertical, extended or retracted.

Precision-parts & CNC engineer

holds tolerances on end pieces and connectors to within ±0.05 mm.

Prototyping engineer

turns a drawing into a real, hands-on sample in 7–10 days, helping you shorten time to market.

Materials & process engineer

finds the best balance across bonding of different materials, surface finishing, and telescoping force.

Quality team, standing guard at every checkpoint:

Incoming & subcontract quality (IQC)
controls subcontracted parts and incoming material.
In-process & full inspection (IPQC / FQC)
every unit, every step, released only after it passes.
Packing & outgoing quality (OQC)
makes sure every carton survives long international transit and ships to standard.
